ALD’s Chairman of the Board Dr. Jan Osing retires -
Succession by Dr. Reinhard Walter

After 10 years as Chairman of the Board of Directors of ALD Vacuum Technologies AG, Dr. Jan Osing (65) retired and accepted a mandate in the Supervisory Board. His colleague Dr. Reinhard Walter, was elected Chief Executive Officer as of July 1, 2004.
In 1972, Osing joined the Leybold Heraeus GmbH in Cologne and Hanau in the position as Vice President Finance, followed by the position as Director of Finance and Accounting at Leybold AG.
In his position as Managing Director of Leybold Durferrit GmbH, he consolidated the two areas Vacuum Metallurgy of Leybold Durferrit and Industrial Furnace Engineering of Degussa in a separate limited company. Spin-off from this company, the current ALD Vacuum Technologies AG was founded in 1994. Under Osing’s direction, the company received the Philip Morris Research Award in 1996 for its activities in the field of vacuum thermal recycling.
In his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Osing facilitated ALD’s world-wide activities and leadership in the fields of Vacuum Metallurgy and Heat Treatment.
As of July 1, 2004, Dr. Reinhard Walter has taken over the position as Chairman of the Board of Directors which he belongs to as Chief Finance Officer since 2001. Walter’s career, mainly focused on the Raw Material Industry, Metallurgy and Environmental Technologies, started in 1975 in the Urangesellschaft. Later he joined Berzelius Umwelt-Service AG and VBH Holding AG as Speaker of the Board and Deputy Chairman of the Board.
After a re-organisation which was implemented in spring ALD is very well assembled for further development of the business particularly in the market segments of power generation, aviation, photo voltaic and automotive suppliers
